Mustang Grapes

Description

I just happened to find these unripe Mustang Grapes growing wild along the walking trails in Coryell County. Come to find out, they are edible but recommended not to eat in the raw state. When ripened and cooked down, these grapes are great for winemaking, jellies, baked goods, and juices. Here are a couple of fun facts about Mustang Grapes: the leaves are fuzzy underneath like the nose of a horse and folks have been making wine with these grapes since the Civil War.
